The Nasca Lines are one of Peru’s greatest mysteries and most awe-inspiring sights. These ancient geoglyphs etched into the desert floor are best appreciated from above, making a flight the ultimate way to experience them. But when should you go, and how should you plan?
We recommend visiting between April and October, during the dry season, for the clearest skies and smoothest flights. Flights operate daily (weather permitting), and mornings tend to offer the best flying conditions.
Motion sickness? Bring some medication just in case! The small aircrafts used for Nazca Lines flights are safe but do sway slightly for better visibility of each geoglyph perfect for photos, but not for sensitive stomachs.
You don’t need to stay overnight in Nazca to enjoy the experience. Many travelers combine a same-day round-trip from Lima or Paracas, but we recommend spending one night if you’d like to explore nearby attractions like Chauchilla Cemetery or Cahuachi Pyramid.
Be sure to have your passport with you, you’ll need it to board the flight.
