The Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu starts with a transfer from your hotel to KM104 by train where you will begin the trail by crossing the Vilcanota / Urubamba River. Along an Inca highway, we’ll climb away from the river and through floras and fauna that is home to hundreds of bird and orchid species. We’ll emerge from the cloud forest at Wiñay Wayna.
Wiñay Wayna is a beautiful ceremonial site divided into two sectors and fashioned from finely-carved stones fit together with great precision. We’ll continue our hike to the Sun Gate, where we’ll get our first view of Machu Picchu. Here, the final stretch of the royal Inca highway will take us to the citadel itself, covered for four centuries by forest and now laid out for our appreciation. From the Sanctuary, we will take the bus to the town of Machu Picchu, where we will spend the night in our hostel / hotel.
We just completed the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and wow. It was an incredible experience from start to finish. Our guide, Hector, was a gem. He was full of knowledge, passion, and he made the whole experience fun. The trail was challenging in parts, but the views and the history made it all worthwhile. And Machu Picchu? It’s something you have to see to believe. A big shout-out to Karikuy Tours for making this dream come true. A big thanks to Julio for helping us plan our itinerary. We couldn’t have asked for a better adventure.
I’ve done a lot of hikes in my time, but the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was something else. The trail was well-maintained, the scenery was spectacular, and our guide, Eduardo, was a legend. He knew the trail like the back of his hand, and he shared stories and insights that made the whole experience richer. The food was decent, the fellow hikers were friendly, and Machu Picchu was awe-inspiring. If you’re on the fence about this trek, just go for it. You won’t be disappointed.
The Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was everything we hoped for and more. It was our first time in Peru, and we were a bit nervous about the hike, but our guide, Julio, put us at ease. He was knowledgeable, funny, and he took great care of us. The trail itself was stunning, with breathtaking views and fascinating history. The highlight, of course, was Machu Picchu. Standing there, looking down at the ruins, we were speechless. It’s a moment we’ll cherish forever. Thank you, Karikuy Tours, for an unforgettable adventure.
I just got back from the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and I’m still buzzing from the experience! The hike was challenging but doable, and the views were out of this world. Our guide, Oscar, was a rock star. He knew everything about the trail, the history, the plants, and he made the whole experience come alive. The food was good, the company was great, and Machu Picchu… well, it’s Machu Picchu. A dream come true. If you’re thinking about doing this trek, stop thinking and just do it. You won’t regret it.
There are so many tour companies out there for a short Inca Trail trek and it took a lot of research before I decided to go with Karikuy. And I’m so so happy I did. This tour company was so informed and kept me in the loop on every step of the process. Our guide Gilber was so fun and had amazing stories.
