Our Machu Picchu 2 Day Tour gives you the opportunity to visit Machu Picchu twice and spend the most amount of time to explore the ruins. The Machu Picchu 2 Day Tour begins by being picked up from your hotel at 5:30 am by our guides to make the early train to Aguas Calientes from the new train terminal in Poroy, about 20 minutes from Cusco.
There are three different rates for the Machu Picchu 2 Day Tour depending on the 3 different trains that take you to and from Machu Picchu Town (round trip), the Expedition, Vistadome and Hiram Bingham Trains. You can view the pricing by clicking the pricing tab above. Expedition Trains are basic. Vistadome Trains are more comfortable, they have on board snacks and entertainment. Hiram Bingham includes full meals as well as entertainment in the best train cabins as well as on board bar.
Regardless of train class the route to Machu Picchu is one of the most beautiful in the world. You begin in the Sacred Valley of the Incas and make your way through to the high jungle passes of the Andes, you are surrounded by beautiful flora and incredible scenery.
The train ride lasts approximately 4 hours, arriving at Aguas Calientes around 10:30am. After disembarking you accompany your guide to the bus terminal where you wind your way up to the entrance of Machu Picchu, along the way you will catch incredible views of the surrounding mountains including Putucusi. Arriving at the entrance your private guide will begin his detailed tour of the site which will last approximately 2 hours, here you will appreciate the ruins as the story of its abandonment and rediscovery help bring the citadel to life.
After the two hour tour of the ruins you have free time to take pictures and explore the ruins further before descending to Aguas Calientes to check in at your hotel, afterwards you have time for Lunch (not included) and shopping or you could take a dip in the hot springs to rest your body from the days hike.
You have the evening free in Aguas Calientes where you can enjoy the cuisine and night life.
In the morning you awake to have breakfast at your hotel before taking the bus up to the ruins of Machu Picchu to visit for a 2nd day. Today you have your Huayna Picchu admission included (subject to availability) where you will have the opportunity to hike up to get a birds eye view of Machu Picchu. Should Huayna Picchu be sold out (needs to be booked 2 months or more in advance) then Machu Picchu Mountain hike will be hiked in its place for similar overhead views.
You have the late morning and afternoon free to explore Machu Picchu before descending back to Aguas Calientes. Here you will pick up your belongings from your hotel and await your return train back to Cusco.
This tour comes with the regular Expedition train back to Cusco where your train departs at 3:20PM and arrives at 7PM in Cusco. There is also the Vistadome Train available departing at 4:45PM and arriving in Cusco at 8PM. Please let us know your preference on our reservation form. You can choose your train type for either leg of your journey to suit your schedule. Your Machu Picchu 2 Day Tour concludes as you arrive back in Cusco.
Thanks for organizing that trip for me, it was a long day 15.25hrs but worth the effort. Ciprian Conza, my chauffeur was punctual, reliable and capable and even stopped twice on the way to Ollantaytambo station for me to take picture of a “hotel” made of tubular pods attached to the mountainside 500m high with a cable car for access. And when we arrived back on the bus to Cusco at 8pm there was his smiling face to greet me and take me back to the hotel. I managed to get lucky and score Seat No.1 which was right up the front of the train beside the driver’s cab so had fantastic views of the locals going about they daily activities, the towering mountains, the boiling and pounding river racing along beside us and Inka terraces. Nola was my guide at the Inka ruins and I had him all to myself. He is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge on everything Inka. He gave me a 2.5 hour guided tour by which time my brain could absorb no more. He is so passionate about Inka history and their relationship to nature and their gods and their ingenuity. It was a memorable visit. Regards Greg Welsby Brisbane Australia
Found Karikuy tours through a Google search. Wanted to do a 2 day/1-night tour to Machu Picchu including some of the Inca trail up to Machu Picchu. Nice tour. Met Oscar in Cusco. Had a misunderstanding of PeruHop bus drop-off time and when Oscar would pick us up and where we were to go. The problem was that if we were going to have to pay an extra $15 per person to have a hostel hold our stuff, breakfast and shower, we should have been told this in advance. Booo. But we ended up meeting Oscar in the Plaza des Arms at 8:45am to start our tour. That was very nice. Plaza des Arms is really chill and nice. There is even a starbucks and KFC in the plaza. Our initial tour guide for the bus/mini-van was really nice. He explained a lot about the Sacred Valley and dropped us off in Ollanyatambo to catch the Peru Rail train to Machu Picchu city. He said someone would be waiting for us at the train station. Great tour guide in Machu Picchu named Piercy. The guy who ran the hotel front desk was waiting for us when we got off of the train from Ollyantambo to Machu Picchu. And he took us to the hotel. The Hotel Humantay was just enough. They watched the bags for free and had free breakfast. Hot water was spotty to non-existent. But walking down the Inca Trail from Machu Picchu was spectacular. I recommend taking the bus up to Machu Picchu and then walking down the trail. Unless you want to take the 2 hour walk up. Best to start at 4 am. So you don’t melt from the sun.
There were awkward moments (touring Ollantaytambo ruins with luggage in tow and waiting hours for the train) but the accommodations in Machu Picchu and the private guide in the ruins more than made up for it. Don’t bother with the VisaDome option, unless you would like food and entertainment on the train, as the ride is mostly in dark.
The two days tours Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu was great. Everything was organized for us and well explained. Furthermore it is all included (Bus to Sacred Valley/ bus Aguas Calientes-Machu Picchu/train/entrance). All of our guides were great and speak a good english. It was really easy and quick to contact Karikuy for any questions we had. Overall we had a great time visiting the Sacred Valley and the Machu Picchu organized by Karikuy Tours
Could you please share this with our guide Gilber who excellent at what he does. We really enjoyed our tour with Gilber who is very knowledge of the history which allowed to leave with a better understanding of the culture and definitely some very interesting facts on Machu Picchu. Gilber loves his job and it showed. He is highly professional and was also very kind to us during the entire tour. Thanks again!
