At 08:00 a.m., we begin the transfer from the hotel to the port of Puno. Shortly after, at 08:20 a.m., we board our boat and start the journey toward Amantaní Island. Along the way, we stop at one of the floating Uros Islands, where the local inhabitants welcome us and share insights into their traditional way of life. They explain their fishing and hunting techniques, their handicrafts, and how they sustain their families, while gladly answering any questions from visitors.
At 13:30 p.m., we arrive at the dock of Amantaní Island, where local families will be waiting to greet us. Once families are assigned, we begin a walk along picturesque trails leading to the respective homes. At 14:00 p.m., we enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by a local family, offering an authentic cultural experience.
From 15:00 to 19:00 p.m., guests may choose up to two activities from the following options: a local cooking workshop using Andean products and quinoa; a traditional embroidery and weaving workshop; a visit to a stonecutter’s workshop; a fishing experience aboard a local fisherman’s boat; or a workshop featuring traditional Andean music.
At 20:30 p.m., a festive evening of music and dance takes place, open to all guests. On Amantaní Island, this celebration is a heartfelt gesture of gratitude for your visit. Music and dance are an essential part of daily life in Peru, celebrated whenever possible. The people of Amantaní take great pride in wearing their traditional clothing and genuinely enjoy sharing their music and joy with visitors. Participation is highly recommended, though never obligatory.
Cultural Workshop Options (not included)

ACTIVITY 1 – Local Production & Quinoa Cooking Workshop
Discover the native crops of Amantaní Island, such as quinoa, corn, and several varieties of potatoes, including dehydrated potatoes. Taste traditional local snacks made from corn, wheat, barley, and toasted beans, while learning how islanders follow natural cycles and honor Pachamama, Mother Earth. At 06:30 a.m., two optional activities are available. Activity A includes watching the sunrise and helping collect fishermen’s nets, available only for those who signed up for the fishing boat experience on Day 1. Activity B, a free and optional activity, is a walk to the highest point of the island to watch the sunrise over the lake, offering breathtaking views.
At 07:30 a.m., breakfast is served. Then, at 08:15 a.m., we depart from Amantaní Island and board the boat heading toward Taquile Island. We arrive at approximately 09:00 a.m. and begin a gentle walk to the main community square. During the visit, we will meet the famous male weavers of Taquile Island, internationally recognized for their textile traditions.

My wife and I have been planning to go to Peru for some time now. As a first step we were looking for a good travel company that will organize our trip for us that fits our budget and be able to customize our trip in Peru. We reached out to many companies in and outside of Peru. Finally, we found Karikuy Tours! From the beginning when we started to correspond with Karikuy Tours (to develop a customized itinerary) to the point of completion of our Peru trip they were outstanding. Their customer service is impeccable! We had to modify the trip many times to fit our and our friends needs. Karikuy team was able to do that without any problems. They respond to emails quickly and if there are any issue they point out. But all in all they were able to come up with a wonderful itinerary that met our needs and budget. After we started our trip we had established communication with Karikuy via WhatsApp! That is a very convenient way of communicating in a foreign country. If there were any questions, we would send a WhatsApp message and Karikuy team would respond immediately. All the tourist attractions and trips were organized perfectly. If the itinerary said someone would pick up from the hotel or airport they would show up on time. The hotels were very clean and comfortable located at great locations at all the places we visited. The Inca trail hike was a great experience! Ofcourse Machu Picchu and Waynapicchu experience was outstanding! Another highlight of our trip was staying with the local tribes in Amantani (an island in lake Titicaca). It was a great experience to see the life on the island, the costumes they wore and what it meant! We even dressed in the local costume and whet for a dance! The family we stayed with were very courteous and catered to our diet needs. The ten day trip went by very fast. I guess you don’t keep track of the time when you’re having so much fun!! I like to thank Karikuy Tours for making our trip a memorable one! I’m sure the whole Karikuy team was involved in organizing our trip and did a great job. Our special thanks Ana Pinco who communicated with us via phone calls, emails for organizing the trip and during the trip to make sure everything was going okay. Anyone reading this post, I strongly recommend Karikuy Tours! You will have a great trip to Peru!!
I had emailed a lot of tours before settling down to Karikuy. The itinerary was completely custom made for me. I wanted to hike and i hiked a lot. I did the 2 day inca trail with machu pichhu, Laguna humantay , Sacred Valley and cusco tour. All their guides (Briner, Dennis and Irvin) were extremely knowledgeable and professional. They were friendly and were very excited to show their country to us. Briner was my guide to Inca trail and i couldnt have asked for a better guide. He told us a lot about the local flora and fauna on the inca trek which made the trek less cumbersome. Dennis was my tour guide for Laguna Humantay, I was put with a group of spanish speaking tourist and obsiously the tour was catered to them in spanish, However Dennis, explained the same thing in English for me and extremely mindful of a non english speaker in the group. My incoming flying to Lima had been cancelled so i came to Cusco a day later, which made adjusting to the altitude a little difficult. Ana from Karikuy gave me tips on shopping for art and helping me finding a hotel close to plaza de armas. Since this was my first solos trip, I extremely enjoyed being pampered by their services. Peru has to be explored on foot and you have to do it with Karikuy. I will be back again and i will chose karikuy to see rainbow mountain, nazca and lake titicaca.
Read some reviews online and was hesitant at first, but once I got in contact with Julio it was a breeze organizing my trip to Peru. Me and my GF Katie had a great time from visiting the Islas Ballestas and Lake Titicaca to Cusco and Machu Picchu. We recommend you also spend some time in Lima as the food is the best. Karikuy was very responsive to our requests when putting together the itinerary, we had a custom itinerary put together and were very pleasantly surprised by the price. We are recommending to all our friends and family back home. Thank you for an truly memorable experience we will never forget!
I really enjoyed this trip to Peru. And thanks to you guys, you made it easier for me. I did it in just 5 days! It was crazy, I wouldn’t make it without your help, advice, and timing! I totally recommend. I took the Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley tour with them, and the Titicaca lake (Uros islands) tour.
I wanted to take my husband to photograph the beauty of Peru and it soon became a trip my best friend was coming on including a friend of hers! I wanted to plan this trip as best I could, my best friend suggested a visit to Lake Titicaca. Unfamiliar with this region, I did a lot of researching on getting there from Cusco and what touring companies were available. After dealing with a few vendors, I came across Karikuy and what a blessing! Tours were outlined clearly, payment was easy and best of all, Julio the founder and pretty much the CEO, answered every email, every question, so quickly and so friendly that you would think it was a long time friend of yours assisting you with booking the trip! Fantastic customer service! The tourism company partnered with Karikuy at Lake Titicaca was excellent, knowledgeable, entertaining and fun. Alex, our tour guide was thorough and caring of his guests and even spoke several languages to accommodate other foreign travelers and help them gain a better understanding of what they were seeing and visiting. Don’t hesitate or have a doubt with Karikuy. Julio knows what he’s doing and he’s doing it well! Thank you so much for the experience!
