Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco, followed by a scenic drive to the small village of Tauca (3,750 m / 12,303 ft). The trek begins across flat terrain surrounded by classic Andean valleys rich with crops like corn, potatoes, barley, quinoa, and native tubers. As you ascend toward the Huchuy Qosqo Pass (4,050 m / 13,287 ft), the landscape transitions into the high-altitude Puna, where sparse vegetation like ichu grass defines the horizon.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the Vilcabamba mountain range, including snow-capped peaks such as Veronica, Pitusiray, Chicon, and San Juan. After the pass, descend toward the Huchuy Qosqo plains, passing through the Ccauca ravine where you’ll spot archaeological remains and wild crops like tarwi, alongside tall cacti.
Continue your descent into the dramatic León Punku ravine, where you’ll encounter remnants of ancient Inca bridges and pathways. Arrive at Huchuy Qosqo (3,650 m / 11,975 ft), a remarkable Inca complex featuring exquisite stonework, a grand kallanka (hall), residential areas, and double-story structures in adobe and stone. The site is perched on a plateau surrounded by agricultural terraces and offers sweeping views of the Vilcabamba range.
From Huchuy Qosqo, descend to the village of Lamay (2,900 m / 9,514 ft), where transportation awaits to take you to Ollantaytambo. From there, board the train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. Overnight at a local hotel.
Meals included: Box lunch and dinner.
Awaken early in the morning and board the first bus to the majestic Machu Picchu (2,450 m / 8,038 ft). Arrive just in time to experience the first rays of sunlight as they cast a magical glow over the ancient citadel. Enjoy a guided tour exploring the fascinating temples, sacred plazas, and agricultural terraces that reflect the incredible engineering of the Inca civilization.
After your guided tour, take time to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace—perhaps climbing to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) for panoramic views, or simply sitting quietly to absorb the powerful energy of this sacred site. Capture unforgettable photos and moments that will stay with you for a lifetime.
Later, return by bus to Aguas Calientes (2,050 m / 6,726 ft) for a brief rest and lunch (not included). In the afternoon, board the scenic train to Ollantaytambo, where your private transport will be waiting to return you comfortably to your hotel in Cusco (3,350 m / 10,991 ft), marking the end of a magical two-day journey through the heart of the Andes.
Meal included: Breakfast at hotel.
