Maras and Moray Half Day Tour

Start your adventure with an early hotel pickup around 7:00 AM in Cusco, as you head north through the Andes on a scenic 1-hour drive to Cruzpata, a rural base point located in the highlands of the Sacred Valley. This area offers spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, open fields, and rural Andean communities.

Upon arrival, you’ll meet your instructor-guide, who will equip you with a helmet, gloves, and your own ATV (quad bike). Before starting the ride, a brief orientation and practice session will take place to ensure everyone feels safe and confident operating the vehicle.

Once ready, the adventure begins with an exhilarating 40-minute ATV ride along dirt roads, open fields, and winding trails leading to the archaeological wonder of Moray. This Inca site is known for its concentric circular terraces that resemble a sunken amphitheater. Your guide will share how the Incas possibly used these structures for agricultural experimentation, taking advantage of the temperature variation between levels to simulate different ecological zones.

After taking in the views and history at Moray, you’ll return to Cruzpata on your ATV. From there, the group will switch to private transport and head to the Maras Salt Mines (Salineras de Maras). These pre-Incan salt pools, nestled on a steep mountainside, are still used today by local families using traditional methods. Your guide will explain the salt-harvesting process and the unique mineral properties that make Maras salt so sought after.

Throughout the tour, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to stop for photos, ask questions, and take in the surrounding natural beauty. After the visit, you’ll board your transport and return to Cusco, arriving around 2:00 PM, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.
