No Current Covid-19 Peru Travel Restrictions

At this time there are no Peru travel restrictions pertaining to COVID -19. Peru has ended their state of Emergency. Masking is optional indoors and outdoors. No proof of vaccinations or testing are required to enter the country.

Restrictions

All Traveler’s are no longer required to submit a declaration of good health upon arrival in Peru.

Travelers are required to observe and respect all Covid-19 Peru travel restrictions presented.

As of November 1st, 2022 Masking is optional in both enclosed and outdoor spaces.

Peruvian regulations require that minors present in Peru for more than 180 days must have a notarized travel letter to depart the country if they are not traveling with the parent(s) listed on the birth certificate. Travel with one parent when two are listed on the birth certificate requires the notarized consent of the non-traveling parent. This notarized letter must be presented to immigration officials prior to boarding a flight.

No Quarantine

International travelers are no longer required to quarantine upon arriving or departing Peru. Current Peru travel restrictions have made masking optional for all enclosed and open areas.

Safety Guidelines

We adhere to health and safety guidelines recommended by the WTTC and WHO. Our Guides are being trained to ensure your wellbeing which is our priority. While the State of Emergency in Peru has been lifted we recommend the following when travelling in Peru.

  • Masking is optional but we recommend wearing them in hospitals should you require a visit.
  • Frequent Handwashing
  • Testing is no longer required but we recommend bringing your own quick test should you experience any symptoms.

Refunds and Future Travel Credit for Affected Customers

We want to thank our customers who had booked before the virus broke for their patience and understanding of the situation. Without your support we may have never reopened and for that we are grateful. Please make sure review all the Covid-19 Peru travel restrictions above before rescheduling.

We have made changes to our terms for travelers that booked with us prior to October 5th, 2020:

  • Please note that once the Countries we offer reopen, tour services will resume as scheduled, this includes tour packages and treks as well as full day tours. You will still be able to reschedule your tour with at least 10 days notice of travel. Please contact us to reschedule your tour or offer your credit for future travel.
  • No Refunds are being given for services not used, as per our terms and conditions “Any costs, whether direct or incidental, incurred by the Customer as the result of delays caused by bad weather, trail conditions, river levels, road conditions, transportation delays, sickness, government intervention or other contingencies which are beyond the control of KARIKUY will not be reimbursed.”
  • If you are not able to travel in the future, you can transfer your tour credit to a friend, relative or loved one.
  • Customers who reschedule their tours will be receiving a travel credit voucher for the amount that you have paid. You can apply the credit to any of our tours through to 2022.
  • Please reschedule a minimum of at least 10 days before your desired tour date. The Inca Trail still has limited availability so please consider booking this trek as far in advance as possible
​Updates to our Booking Terms & Conditions

As a result of the rapidly evolving impact on international travel, we have updated our Booking Terms & Conditions Policy to make it easier for our customers to change their plans. Before booking please review all the Covid-19 Peru Travel Restrictions above. These new cancellation policies below will apply for all new and existing bookings.

  • If you cancel your trip booking before final payment is made, you can choose to transfer your deposit to an alternative trip, or hold what you have paid as a credit towards a future trip taken within 24 months from the date of cancellation. 
  • If you have paid in full and cancel at least 30 days or less prior to departure we can offer you future travel credit or the ability to pass on the credit to a friend, relative or loved one. The 100% Cancellation Fee only applies if you are unable to reschedule or pass on the missed tour to another person.
  • If you have paid in full and cancel at 45 days or more prior to departure, we can offer you future travel credit or the ability to pass on the credit to a friend, relative or loved one. A $250 per person Cancellation Fee only applies if you are unable to reschedule or pass on the missed tour to another person.
  • Customers are able to postpone their tours should the need arise.  If you contact us regarding postponing your trip with 10 or more days prior to departure, the rescheduling fee is $0. If you notify us of postponement 10 to 7 days before your trip the fee is 35% of the trip cost and 50% if we are notified with less then 6 days before the start of your trip.

Please note that the above amended conditions apply to the Karikuy Tours land portion of your trip only. Airlines and other travel providers may charge additional fees. Different cancellation conditions also apply to our Inca Trail 4 and 2 Day Tours as well as Custom Tours – please contact us for more details or if you have any questions regarding Covid-19 Peru travel restrictions.

Yes, Peru is open for travel and no longer has any Covid-19 Travel Restrictions.

Can I travel to Peru right now from USA?

Yes, Travelers from the USA do not require a travel Visa to enter Peru and there are no Peru travel restrictions to enter from the USA.

What are the travel restrictions in Peru & when was the last Peru Travel Restrictions Update?

There are currently no Covid-19 Travel Restrictions to Peru. The last update of the Travel Restrictions was on December 3rd, 2022.

Is it Safe to Travel to Peru?

Yes it’s safe to travel to Peru. As with any third world country travelers must be aware of their surroundings and avoid known dangerous areas in Peru. As for Peru travel restrictions COVID-19, our levels of the virus are the same in most other areas of the world. Travelers have the option to mask and follow the Peru travel requirements Covid above.

Do I need Yellow fever Vaccinations?

This would depend on your home country and you should check with your international airline as some carriers may recommend Yellow Fever Vaccinations. However in General it is not mandatory, and only recommended if you are visiting Jungle areas where Yellow fever has been reported.

Will Peru close borders again?

There are no indications that Peru will close the borders again due to COVID unless there is a new dangerous strain or outbreak.
